Orange and Red Seeds
Or flowers, not sure what this is either but it’s a tree right next to the entryway to the bathrooms. It was in a shady spot and I had a hard time getting a good shot due to the shade/sun contrast, etc… Taken at Lyon Arboretum in Manoa valley, Hawaii.

Unidentified Flower
I know the label stating the species was right there but we were in a rush to flee the mosquitos so I didn’t get a photo of the nameplate… so I dunno what this is but it was a neat looking plant. Taken at Lyon Arboretum in Manoa valley, Hawaii.

Water Lily
Photo of a water lily taken at Lyon Arboretum in Manoa valley. There was a beautiful fish pond with lots of lilys. I’ll upload the rest of the set soon.

Flower in the Yard
Some flower (dunno what its called but its bright purple) we recently purchased from Star Market in Manoa. Shot with Canon f/4L with a Canon 40D.

Branches Everywhere!
Another tree in Moanalua Gardens taken with my 10-16mm. In black and white the contrast between the branches and the leaves makes for an interesting composition… and the sheer number of branches flattened out by the lens makes it look different than what you’d see with your own eyes.

Tree Study
Black and white photo of one of the huge trees in Moanalua Gardens, taken at a slightly different angle while sitting about 5 feet up the trunk or so.

Palo Alto
This was originally shot on film using a Nikon N80 and scanned with a film scanner from a slide. I think it was Velvia but I don’t recall. One morning a buddy and I drove around Palo Alto to take photos and I think this was some hill behind Roche. Not sure, but the narrow depth of field is from my 50mm f/1.4.

Spin Cycle
An old favorite, the Alice in Wonderland ride at Disneyland taken with a slow shutter and moderately steady hand. The colors blend into a nice blur that matches the hues in the lights above.

Frog in our garden
An old black and white photo of the frog that would visit our little plant garden on the balcony of our apartment in Belmont, CA. The same frog would be out there each day, usually hiding in the buckets…

From the Archives: Flower in Pond
A water lily (I think) blooming in my dad’s koi pond, Waipahu, Hawaii.
